( 2.9 / 139 )It's been a couple of days since i have been home relaxing. I needed this. Sunday i went and played paintball with a very cool bunch of people. My team, the "Hell's Mayors", was there as usual, and we had a group of about 10 from citrix show up.
My ION shot amazingly well. I marked people left and right. It was great. I did get bunkered by a couple of newbies who didnt know to stop shooting after I got hit, but I startled tem so its no surprise they kept firing. All in all, a very good day.
I have been hanging out at FAU a lot these past few days. It's nice to be back at what will be my first alma mater. I love UCF. But right now, i have so many memories with FAU, Ive missed it. I have been hanging out with so many of my old friends, and colleagues, I haven't been this happy in a long while.
Alex and Josh's apartment kicks ass btw. I have been going there every night. I have finally gotten to see HDTV in its (semi-)full glory. 1080i American Chopper is Amazing!
The apartment is very nice. Its going to suit them very well, and I'm glad it feels like home to both them and to me.
Happy Passover to everyone. I hope the holiday is finding you well.
To all my friends and co-workers in Tally: I'll be back soon enough. I miss you guys too.

( 2.9 / 118 )I made it back to Orlando safely. Tommorow my mom will be picking me up, and I will be spending the week in Broward relaxing, celebrating passover, and clearing my head.
I will be playing paintball with my team, the Hell's Mayors, on sunday. That should be fun. It is also my grandma's birthday on sunday, as well as my friend Chris.
Happy Birthdays!

( 2.9 / 133 )I am an FAU Alumni. I earned my AA from FAU last year and am currently finishing my Bachelors at UCF. That said, I was heavily involved in FAU's SGA for a couple of years and I must say, this years elections systems were horribly handled.
Student Affairs got rid of a perfectly working program that IRM had created that allowed us to peer review the code, and setup in house a voting system that was secure, safe, and simple.
This year, SA (not SGA) went with VOTENET.com to outsource the voting system. They used student money to pay for this system. A system that is not open to people viewing the code. A system with no obtainable paper trail.
There were also numerous abuses of internet security. Running this program over unsecured WiFi. While yes, the program was run over SSL, which adds a ton of security, the initial layer is still unsecured.
The system is run off a third party website. It would be trivial to modify a website to look like the current voting website and use that to phish students social security numbers.
Which brings me to my third point! WHY ARE THEY USING SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS?!?!?! The last few years we have received random pins and last year it used our MyFAU password.
I have spoken to votenet, and while they wouldn't tell me how much FAU has spent on their program, they did tell me they spent money on it, and that if I had questions I should contact SA, as they would not release any information.
They ARE deciding whether or not to give me a demo account so i can test the reliability and accountability of their software.
They said in their 6 years of business, I am only the SECOND person to question their system. We as students need to be more concerned about this.
If I was running for SGA, I would DEFIANTLY be disputing this years election based on the insecure nature of the election software.

( 2.9 / 154 )Today, the National guard setup downstairs in the Capital Courtyard. It was amazing to say the least. I got a ton of pictures of military aircraft and military weapons. I got to hold a .50 calibur sniper rifle. 30lbs of Kick Your Ass Power. Amazing.
The Governor was also there speaking about the Guard. Got some nice pictures of the Governor Crist. All in all, a good day.

( 2.9 / 102 )Happy St. Patty's Day Everyone!
I just drove 460 miles from one end of that state to the other, picked up Nikki, and went down to South Florida. It was so worth it. My buddies threw one hell of a house warming party. I miss this place so much.
I am going to be very homesick once Monday rolls around. I am going to have to drive another 460 miles this morning, back up to Tallahassee. I had to rent a rental car since my car is leaking oil (again). This internship is tough. The work is a lot of fun, but everything going on in my life around it is so stressful.
At least in Orlando I don't need a car.
Anyways, Happy St. Patty's day, and Happy Birthday Max!

( 3 / 113 )This week was a lot of fun.
Work ramped up and I survived the first week of our busy season. I think I will make it.
A bunch of my old FAU buddies came up to see me and I had an amazing time. We drove around town, saw FSU, watched some people get drunk who shouldn't have. A good time.
I started another project.
The Free Radio Project.
I currently have a radio stream, streaming some indie music.

stream is here: http://64.22.79.181:8000/listen.pls

( 3.1 / 159 )So I had an interesting weekend. Friday-Mid Sunday will never be spoken of, but Sunday night. Wow. Maria picks me up from Nikki's at 930pm since her tire went flat, so after that got fixed, we got a late start up to Tally.
At around 1:30am we get into Tally, I go to turn on my car, and, ready for this, NOTHING. Battery is dead. I had to crash on Maria's couch for the night and then walk the half mile in 24degree weather back to my apartment at 6am. In shorts. and sandals. It sucked. I finally made it back home and jumped into a warm bath. I had to be at the office by 8am for training. So I basically got 4 hours of nice sleep, and then a really long day at work.
Ugh.
My co worker tried to give me a jump but I don't think he waited long enough, since it didn't work, so I'm gunna try it again later tonight.
Woo.

( 3 / 120 )It's 3am, and I'm finally in Orlando. I left Tallahassee at 6pm to visit my girlfriend, and what happens? 2 hours going nowhere on I-10. Who decides to shut down 1 lane on a 2 lane highway, during rush hour, on a Friday, for repavement?
Oh well, at least I got here safe.
On another note, the storm we had last night was insane! Tornadoes touched down about 20 miles from my apartment!

( 2.9 / 124 )So Maria and I now have a punch buggy rivalry. She has hit me maybe 6 times in the past month I have been up here, and I have punch-bugged her twice.
On the way to this really awesome coffee bar (CoolGrindz) we were actively looking for Beetles, and of course on the way she finds not one, but three! Three freakin' VW beetles.
So, now I’m paranoid and on the lookout for a VW beetle so I can get my revenge.
Tomorrow I am heading back down to Orlando so I can visit my girlfriend Nikki for the weekend. I am really looking forward to that. I can't wait to see her :)

( 3 / 98 )So, every now and again I am going to post happenings, both funny and not-so-funny, about my internship. Today happens to be a funny post.
I am helping Maria bring down some plates and coffee mugs into the kitchen area of the office to clean them and of course, fill them with more coffee.
Well, lo and behold, there is no coffee left in the Community Coffee machine (which is now going to be named Coffee Maker of DooM for the tenure of my internship).
I am going to paraphrase the conversation we had after noticing said DooM Machine is empty.
Maria: Let's make coffee!
Shea: I've never made coffee before but ok!
Maria: Hey! A brew button! (Presses said button)
Shea: Whats this cup doing over here with a filter?
Maria: ?
Maria & Shea: !
(Boiling water starts spraying everywhere in the kitchen)
After a couple of minutes waiting for the water to stop spraying, and emptying out mugs and jars which we had managed to get under the nozzle spraying said water, we figured out our mistake.
I love this internship.

( 2.8 / 137 )Well, after they took off my wheels to get to my brakes, they found out that my front right spindle is completely stripped. and that it will be another 200 bucks to fix that damage. All in all, this i totalling somehwere around 1100$ on a 1500$ car. yay.
My Dad thankfully took care of it. So, yeah, I hopefully get to pick it up tonight. It's been a rough couple of days.
Nikki, I miss you.
